Count the days until Christmas with Santa and his elves!
Help little ones be patient until Christmas with this storytelling twist on the timeless Advent tradition. Each day, starting December 1st and counting down to Christmas Eve, children can read a story that recounts how Santa and Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer get ready for the big night ahead, from Santa’s initial fitness test (will he make it through the chimney this year?) to a behind-the-scenes look at Santa’s toy factory. A book that captures all the excitement and the magic of the holiday season.
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
Do you have any idea what it takes for the fat man to prepare for the holidays? Me neither, at least I didn't before I read this book. Granted I find some of the details a little hard to believe. Like why on Earth would they wait until December to start making toys? I like to procrastinate as much as the next person, but if I was tasked with making toys for EVERY nice child in the world, I think I'd start more than 24 days before they were due. At least knock out the generic items like bats and dolls so you have more time for the more specialized requests that start coming in after turkey day.
But for the most part this was an adorable rundown of the days leading up to Christmas that you could potentially read each night, although each day's details would not have satisfied my children as a bedtime story, because they are fairly brief.
The illustrations were bright and colorful and pretty much everything you would expect from the North Pole. Although I'm pretty sure they manufacture daylight because they definitely do not see the sun in December.
Overall I give this book 4.2 out of 5 stars. - Katie
