*Review* Alpha Wolf by Emma Dean

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Published: April 27, 2018
Pages: 152

A one night stand pulls Amelia into the world of magic and sexy shifters when she's unexpectedly mated to the hottest alpha on the West Coast.

Amelia has issues after her ex-boyfriend ruined her life. It's taken years but she's managed to pull her life together and now works as an Editor at Ravens Publishing. Because of her past she refuses to date, but the hottest guy she's ever seen is too charming and sweet to resist.

Kai is the new Alpha of the Blue Mountain Wolf Pack. He's cleaning up his territory after a decade of bad Alpha's destroying Portland and the surrounding area. They've been dealing with rogue wolves left and right, but there's one left that has evaded him and his pack at every turn. Can Kai take down this wolf and still convince Amelia to date him when she doesn't know anything about the paranormal world?

*This is a steamy MF shifter romance. All paranormal books by Emma Dean are connected and sometimes overlap. Welcome to the Council of Paranormals world.

I was hired to proofread this book. The only aspects of the story that I influenced were the spelling and grammar. If you feel that my connection to the book makes my review untrustworthy, so be it, but this is my honest review.

I feel like, on the surface, this is a fairly standard shifter romance. Couple meets and, whoops, they're mates...of course only one of them knows that's even a thing. What really sets these shifters apart from the rest is the way the mate bond affects the mated people. It was a unique approach to the situation that in the whole scheme of things makes a lot of sense to ensure that the universe gets what it wants from participants that may be reluctant to give in.

Where this book really shines is in the characterization. I felt like I was Amelia from the very start, and even with the knowledge obtained from the dual POV storytelling, I still felt unsure of the reality of shifters. Amelia's emotions were just portrayed so vividly, I had not choice but to feel them for myself.

Overall I give Alpha Wolf 4.3897 stars. - Katie

Emma Dean lives and works in California with her husband and son. She loves romance but needed something different so Draga Court was born. With too many stories to write the schedule has been filled through 2018.

When she’s not writing she’s reading, or spending time with her family.
With publishing now at least she has an excuse for not folding the laundry ;)
