Synopsis
Before ambitious heiress Ellen Langford can inherit her father's business, she must deliver a special Christmas card to her dad's former partner in Snow Falls. When a snowstorm strands her at the town inn, she discovers the true gift of Christmas.
Review
This movie uses the classic spoiled rich girl needs to learn a thing or two about charity trope, and of course sending her to a cold, small town is just the way to teach her that lesson. Granted, the small town in question has significance for the business she is hoping to inherit from her father, so it's not entirely unreasonable that she was sent, but still. It seemed a bit cruel considering the fact that her most recent tabloid-worthy escapades were an effort to raise more money for charity in the first place. And the fact that she was only allowed $100 (the same amount of money her father had when he and his buddy started the business), and she was clearly doomed to difficulty (they didn't even adjust for inflation). And she took an obscene amount of clothes for someone who only expected to spend one night in town.
Ellie is a city girl through and through and she really did have a lot to learn about life in the sticks, but once she started trying to adapt, she took to it like a fish to water. And in spite of her dad thinking that she's just a party girl (because that's what the media believes), she really has a kind heart from the get go. And I was definitely hoping she'd ditch her jerk of a big city boyfriend for the small town hunk.
This movie includes a nearly impossible challenge, a homeless rescue, and a bunch of last minute donations for a charity auction.
I don't know that I'd watch this movie again just because I felt so bad for Jake when he found out who she was considering his history. The movie had some amazingly happy moments, but I'm not sure I'd want to subject myself to that heartbreak again.
