*31 Days of Christmas* Mingle All the Way

Thanksgiving is over and the countdown to Christmas has officially begun (at least in my house). I don't limit myself to just reading cheesy Christmas romances during this time of year. Oh no. I also find myself binge watching Christmas movies on Netflix and the Hallmark Channel. And I thought, why not incorporate that into my blog as well. So I give you the 31 Days of Christmas (which will be much easier to accomplish with movies than books like I've tried to do in past years).

Next up is Mingle All the Way.

Synopsis

Mingle All the Way is a new networking app designed to pair busy professionals together for upcoming events, without long-term romance. Molly (Lilley), founder of the app, is determined to prove to her family that it is a success. Therefore, she joins the app, and meets another busy professional, Jeff (Daugherty). When Molly and Jeff are matched, they are both horrified to realize they've already had not one, but two disastrous previous encounters. Nevertheless, they agree to stay matched for all their respective upcoming holiday engagements. As the pair gets closer, perhaps their business arrangement might turn into something more this holiday season.

Review

Mingle All the Way is a holiday romance with a How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days feeling to it. You've got Molly who has been challenged to use her own app to prove it's effectiveness, and Jeff who needs a woman in his life to impress his boss and get invited to activities outside of work that are "couples only." A platonic match would clearly be mutually beneficial for them this holiday season. 

Even though the two characters get off to a rocky start (because of course they have to get off to a rocky start and dislike each other), things quickly turn around for them once they start attending all the various holiday functions they are each obligated for. The chemistry between the characters was adorable and may have led to some squealing in my household, and I kind of hated that I just knew something was going to screw that up, even for a little bit. 

This movie features a gingerbread house building contest, unexpected tree decorating, a sleigh ride, and of course some caroling. It basically gives you everything you expect from a family-centered holiday. 

I think the only thing that would have made me like this movie more is if Anna Kendrick had played the leading lady. Jen Lilley did a great job, but some of her mannerisms in this movie just screamed classic Kendrick (and I have a bit of a girl crush on Kendrick).
