Review
We picked this movie for our weekly family movie night shortly before Halloween (and it's taken me forever to get this review written and posted because I'm awesome). It felt like the perfect choice during spooky season. It was a cute family friendly horror movie, although I think my husband and I enjoyed it more than the kids.
After moving to a small town, the Gordons release the spirit of Stingy Jack and then have to send the entire night figuring out how to get him back in his box. The basic plot is a lot like Hocus Pocus when I think about it, but the meat of the movie is very different. There was a fun In Living Color easter egg that made me giggle. My uncultured children didn't get it.
The pacing of the story was good with some nods to some older horror movies. I feel like those elements really added to the charm of the movie, and being a Wayans brother movie, they're not surprising.
Overall I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend it next spooky season if you haven't watched it yet. - Katie
