*Book Blogger Hop* Keeping up with Favorite Authors

We are on to a new week for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by the lovely folks over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. This weeks questions is:

Do you use social media to keep up with your favorite authors? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

Technically, yes. I follow most of my favorite authors on either Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. But I don't necessarily pay a lot of attention to what they're posting all the time, so I kind of feel like I should say no to this question. In mind my "keeping up with" implies actually knowing what's going on with the authors on a regular basis rather than just seeing the occasional post. And, if I did more actual keeping up with, I'd probably have way more anticipated upcoming releases because they wouldn't come as surprises to me when they release.

So there you go, my not at all conclusive answer to this question. Do you keep up with your favorite authors on social media?

If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post so I can stop by and check out your answer. - Katie

  1. I follow some of my favourites, but I find that very few posts appear from them.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Post reach on Facebook at least is absolutely abysmal, so it's hard to see many posts from authors. That's for sure. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  2. I use Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Instagram is my #1 spot where I connect with my favorite authors, I like to find out what they are coming out with next and chatting about the books they have already published.

    1. I was mostly off of social media for a few months not too long ago when I was overwhelmed with everything, and then when I returned I started sharing a bunch of recipes I want to try cooking, so my algorithms are all jacked up for any kind of bookish stuff. I should really work on fixing that. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  3. I know some authors through blogging. Every now and then they come to my blog. I follow authors on social media to help share their updates.

    1. I used to share author updates on social media, but I feel like the relationships I built when I first started blogging fizzled out (probably when I was off social media for personal reasons) and the support just isn't there on their end anymore. Plus post reach is awful so I need to rebuild that before I really focus on being more promotional. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  5. I probably need to set up more notifications for certain authors on Twitter and such so I know right away if they post something. Twitter gets so vast sometimes since I follow a lot of other bloggers too that I don't always read every tweet like I did way back at the beginning! Lol.

    Thanks for visiting my BBH!

  6. I regularly harass Dan Jones on Facebook and Twitter. Like, he knew who I was when he walked into his book reading/signing in 2017. But he puts up with my incessant questions about medieval times and Eleanor of Aquitaine especially.

  7. The surprises part about new releases is kind of relatable, but so exciting on the other hand. Moreover, I think that many anticipated releases overflow your TBR and you feel overwhelmed at some point.

  8. I know what you are saying. I befriend authors, but I don't always keep up with what they are doing most of the time.
