*31 Days of Christmas* Christmas with a View

Thanksgiving is over and the countdown to Christmas has officially begun (at least in my house). I don't limit myself to just reading cheesy Christmas romances during this time of year. Oh no. I also find myself binge watching Christmas movies on Netflix and the Hallmark Channel. And I thought, why not incorporate that into my blog as well. So I give you the 31 Days of Christmas (which will be much easier to accomplish with movies than books like I've tried to do in past years).

Next up is Christmas with a View.

Watched on: Netflix
Duration: 1 hour, 31 minutes
Originally aired on: 2018
Directed by: Justin G. Dyck
Starring: Kaitlyn Leeb, Scott Cavalheiro, and Vivica A. Fox
Please see IMDb for full cast and crew info.

Synopsis

This Christmas, Thunder Mountain Ski Resort is abuzz when celebrity chef Shane Roarke is named the new head chef. Clara Garrison isn't as excited and is instead focused on getting resettled after her failed attempt at opening a big city restaurant. With their paths constantly crossing, will their shared passion for cooking bring them together or will secrets keep them apart?

Review

This is not really a Christmas movie in the classic sense. Sure, it's set at Christmas time, but Christmas is not the focus of the plot. There's no one missing the Christmas spirit, or anyone who is overly excited about Christmas. The movie is set at a ski resort, but it doesn't host a bunch of annual Christmas events. Christmas is only a small aspect of the movie and not really an important one.

Now that doesn't mean the movie was bad, because it wasn't. The budding romance between Shane and Clara would almost fit into any typical chick flick. Although the lack of bickering between the two gives me a bit of pause there. Sure, they had a couple small misunderstandings, but those didn't pose insurmountable hurdles.

The highlight of this movie for me was Bonnie, Clara's best friend. Bonnie is exactly the type of person I would want to be friends with. She's fun and loyal and willing to be there for Clara whenever she needs her.

This movie includes a brief Christmas thing montage including a snowball fight, skiing, and shopping for Christmassy costume like clothes.

I would probably watch this movie again some time when I was looking for a chick flick, but I wouldn't make it a movie I watch to get in the Christmas spirit.
