*Stacking the Shelves* October 5, 2024

(Titles link to Amazon via Amazon Affiliate links)

Stacking The Shelves is a feature/weekly meme run by Reading Reality in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Now, I already have a monthly post I do featuring the books I get in the mail (and it's a lot because I have a serious Goodreads First Reads giveaway addiction), and I'm posting my monthly Read-A-Thon posts again too, which covers the books I receive through Netgalley. So my STS post will feature all the books I've been one-clicking on Amazon and picking up at the thrift store and Barnes and Noble, within reason. Once again I went on a free book blast binge, and added like 90 books to my digital shelves from that, and those books will not be listed here.

On that note, here are the books I picked up this week. All Goodreads First Reads ebook wins unless otherwise specified.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo - I grabbed a slightly water damaged version of this at the thrift store, but it was only $2.
The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead - I got this seemingly pristine copy of this book at the thrift store.
The Good Girl by Mary Kubica - Great thrift store thriller find for me this week.
Graceling by Kristin Cashore - Got this book at the thrift store.
Fire by Kristin Cashore - The thrift store had the second book in the series too, which is always a plus.
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover - Got lucky finding this beauty at the thrift store today.
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid - I've heard so many good things about this, that when I saw it at the thrift store, I just had to buy it.
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver - I found a large print version of this at the thrift store today, and I really wanna read it, so even though I typically avoid large print, I bought it.
The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson - I remember really liking "The Lottery" when we read it in school, so I definitely wanna read more of Jackson's stories. And the book was just $2.
The Black Phone by Joe Hill - I know he's Stephen King's son, so I buy any of his books I find while thrifting.
The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict by Trenton Lee Stewart - I have the first three books in this series from previous thrifting, so I absolutely had to grab this when I saw it on the shelf.
The Coming of the Third Reich by Richard J. Evans - Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it, and I see too much repetition from the WWII era for my liking. And it was $2.
Undivided by Neal Shusterman - This series was recommended to me by a former coworker, and now I'm only missing book 3. I will eventually find it.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson - When I saw this book also on the shelves at the thrift store, I got really excited that I might find a copy of The Haunting of Hill House too (spoiler alert: I didn't).
Wild Seed by Octavia E. Butler - Ms. Butler comes up a lot when people are asking for Black History Month book recommendations, so I had to buy this book for my diverse reading.
The Humans by Matt Haig - I enjoyed The Midnight Library and I'm doing a reading challenge this month that includes reading a book with a white cover and my copy is very white. Just had to grab it for $2 (although it looks like it may be on sale for Kindle for the same price right now).
The Bullet that Missed by Richard Osman - I recently read the first book in this series for a book club and enjoyed it well enough, couldn't pass up this third book in the series at the thrift store.

And that's all the books I picked up at my thrift store. Now we'll get into my new digital books.

Girls Have to Dance by Anya Stork
A Dragon of Turicum by C.R. Bracher - I grabbed this as a freebie from a Facebook ad.
The Crooked Ladder by C.R. Bracher - Another Facebook ad freebie.
The Corporian Dilemma by C.R. Bracher - Got this as a Facebook ad freebie too.
Chocolate Centered Cozy Mysteries Box Set by Cindy Bell - This box set was free (still might be!) and we're heading into spooky season so I had to grab it.
Whispers in the Attic by Clay Wise - This haunted house boxset was free (isn't anymore) so I snagged it right quick and in a hurry.
Christmas Promises Box Set by Morris Fenris - I got this clean Christian romance collection for free (no longer free). It may come in handy for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge in December.
Still Just a Geek by Wil Wheaton - I got this celebrity memoir on sale for just $1.99 (might still be on sale).
Three One-Eyed Wanderers by Samuel DenHartog - This freebie was from a Facebook ad.

Medusa's Proxy by Coralie Moss - I snagged this for free (might still be free).
Bad Intentions by Sarwah Creed - This was free for me (and might be free for you too).

The Unbeatable CEO by Clark Vitulli
Fated Mates of the Seed by Tammy Walsh - I grabbed this box set for free (might still be free).
Life's Lessons by Ed Corbett
The Biology of Love by Romain Gagnon
This Cursed House by Del Sandeen - This is a Goodreads win, but it's one I'm super excited about because I saw it on lots of Top Ten Tuesday posts recently, and the cover just looks so good.
Chasing the Impossible by Rachelle Rutherford
Orphan's Quest by Terry Ironwood
Super 8 by Adam Lewis
For Your Benefit by Patrick Canning
Mutant of the Salish Sea by Thom Robbins
Christmas in Painted Pony Creek by Linda Lael Miller - I snagged this on sale for just $1.99 (might still be on sale).
Contest of the Queens by Jordan H. Bartlett - I listened to the second book in this series in audio, so finding book 1 for just $0.99 was great (might still be that cheap too).
Daughter of the Salt King by A.S. Thornton - This is another book that I got the sequel for without reading book 1 first, and again, this was only $0.99 for me (might still be).
The Building that Wasn't by Abigail Miles - This looked like a great spooky season read, and it was only $0.99 (still listed that way on Thursday).
All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness - I was told I should read these books, and finding all three of them for just $2.99 (still listed that way on Thursday) really removed any objection I might have.
Big Little Spells by Hazel Beck - I thought this looked like a nice cozy witchy read for the Halloween holiday season, and was willing to drop a mere $2.99 for it (still listed at $2.99 on Thursday).
Thaw My Heart by Lola Lockhart - I grabbed this for free (no longer free).
Hating the Rookie by A.J. Wynter - This was another freebie for me (and it may still be free).
Somewhere You Belong by Harlow James - I grabbed this one for free (and it may still be free now).
The Queen of Shards by Jens Budinger
Richard Nixon's Court by George D. Cameron III
The Spilling of Blood by D.W. Paulk
Love & Lobsters by Shannon M. Parker
Witches Steeped in Gold by Clannon Smart - I snagged this awesome looking book for just $2.99 (no longer on sale).
14 Ways to Die by Vincent Ralph - I had my eye on this book the last time I was at Barnes & Noble, so getting it as an ebook on sale for just $1.99 was definitely a score.
The Shadow Witch Saga by S.A. Klopfenstein - I just love finding box sets for free on Amazon. My brain says "look at all the pages we are getting for FREE!!!"
Emily Spellmaker on All Hallows' Eve by S.W. Develin - I grabbed this one for free too.
Hex on the Beach by Gina LaManna - Grabbed this for free.
Jinx and Tonic by Gina LaManna - This was another freebie.
Witchy Sour by Gina LaManna - Another free book for me.
Amuletto Kiss by Gina LaManna - There were like 8 books in this series free, and I got them all!
Long Isle Iced Tea by Gina LaManna - I just love the pun-y titles for all of them.
Mermaid Mimosa by Gina LaManna - This one looks like something I would definitely drink.
Spelldriver by Gina LaManna - Who doesn't like a good witchy screwdriver?
Magic Julep by Gina LaManna - This is the last book in the series I got for free.
Hunger by Yolanda Olson - I grabbed this book for free. Might even get it read for spooky season.
Bewitched by Laura Thalassa - I snagged this book for free because I just love the cover.
Shatter the Chains by Sydney M.D. Crackower
Shatter Me: Six Novel Collection by Tahereh Mafi - I snagged this box set for just $3.99. I've heard mixed reviews for the books, but this was a good price for them, so I'm not mad about it, and they might be books my daughter will read too.
Pecked to Death by Ducks by Rochelle Brandon
From Narrow-Blinded to Open Minded by Edward N Gamble PhD CPA
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling - I've been seeing this book all over the place lately, and right now it's on sale for just $1.99, so I had to grab it.
Legion by Catrina Burgess - I grabbed this book for free.
Revenant by Catrina Burgess - This book was also free for me.
Awakening by Catrina Burgess - This author put this whole series free, so I took advantage.
Possession by Catrina Burgess - This is the last book in that series that I got for free.

So that's all the books I picked up this past week (with the exception of that book blast I mentioned). I was a really big week for new books for me between the thrift store, just winning a whole bunch of ebooks through Goodreads, and seeing so many books I've wanted on sale on Amazon. Now I just need to find the time to read all of them.

What new books have you added to your shelves recently? Anything I should be keeping my eye out for? Which of these books do you think I should read first?

If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post below so I can make sure to stop by and see all your new pretties. - Katie
