*Mail Call* January 4 - 8

It's been a couple weeks since I posted a mail call because I somehow went two weeks without getting any books in the mail. This week totally made up for that though, and gives me the impression that my books were probably here just waiting to be distributed, and not being able to be because others were not picking up their packages in a timely fashion (it's a rather common problem, but it's exacerbated by increased package shipping during the holiday season.) Without further ado, here are this weeks books.

Dr. Paul's Total Relief: Depression Book 1 by Dr. Paul Young

Synopsis

This is NOT just another book on depression and definitely not your typical self-help book. Nor is it just some kind of pop psychology. No way! I take your depression seriously. You see, depression has been referred to as the number one health problem in the world. If not treated, it can kill. But don't be afraid. MY APPROACH My approach to help you goes incredibly beyond what most programs and books offer. In my opinion, almost all texts on depression, even the best sellers, fall short from what you desperately seek. They render some relief, but most of them do not deliver to you the healing and freedom you desire. They do not take you all the way to TOTAL RELIEF. How many times have you picked up a book or had a therapy session that gave you hope. You experienced some improvement from your depression. But there it is again, raising its ugly head. Your meds aren't working the way they used to, you continue to go to therapy and read books, on and on and on, hoping, to have a breakthrough. Now you pick up my book. It looks different. And you see the title, TOTAL RELIEF. TOTAL! That's what you're looking for. Your heart desperately seeks to put your depression behind you...once and for all. Well, my friend, you have come to the right place. My promise to you is this: You will be taken on a journey that will not just get rid of your pain, but the root cause of your pain, restoring you to the person you were meant to be. Quite a promise, isn't it!

Thoughts on Life: Random and Otherwise by Jennifer Rego

Synopsis

Thoughts on Life, Random and Otherwise is a collection of ideas, thoughts, and self reflections that the author has garnered through her own experiences. She shares these thoughts with the intention of inspiring others to reflect on their life, set thought patterns, and self-limiting memes by covering a broad range of topics in short, bite-sized and easily digestible pieces. It is meant to inspire change in the reader's daily life and actions, as well as entertain.

In the words of one reviewer, "...this book is wisdom from the very first page to the last...there is nowhere her attention does not fall. Thoughts on Life: Random and Otherwise by Jennifer Rego is a repository of good sense. It can successfully replace all the wisdom we would have found in quite a few books. Most of the discussions are on real, day to day issues...and are definitely of practical applicability. That makes this book a worthy companion or a recommended daily read. Well done, Jennifer!" ~Roy T. James for Readers' Favorite

The Power of Broke by Daymond John

Synopsis

Daymond John has been practicing the power of broke ever since he started selling his home-sewn t-shirts on the streets of Queens. With no funding and a $40 budget, Daymond had to come up with out-of-the box ways to promote his products. Luckily, desperation breeds innovation, and so he hatched an idea for a creative campaign that eventually launched the FUBU brand into a $6 billion dollar global phenomenon.  But it might not have happened if he hadn’t started out broke - with nothing but a heart full of hope and a ferocious drive to succeed by any means possible.

Here, the FUBU founder and star of ABC’s Shark Tank shows that, far from being a liability, broke can actually be your greatest competitive advantage as an entrepreneur. Why?  Because starting a business from broke forces you to think more creatively.  It forces you to use your resources more efficiently. It forces you to connect with your customers more authentically, and market your ideas more imaginatively. It forces you to be true to yourself, stay laser focused on your goals, and come up with those innovative solutions required to make a meaningful mark.

Drawing his own experiences as an entrepreneur and branding consultant, peeks behind-the scenes from the set of Shark Tank, and stories of dozens of other entrepreneurs who have hustled their way to wealth, John shows how we can all leverage the power of broke to phenomenal success. You’ll meet:

·         Steve Aoki, the electronic dance music (EDM) deejay who managed to parlay a series of $100 gigs into becoming a global superstar who has redefined the music industry
·         Gigi Butler, a cleaning lady from Nashville who built cupcake empire on the back of a family  recipe, her maxed out credit cards, and a heaping dose of faith
·         11-year old Shark Tank guest Mo Bridges who stitched together a winning clothing line with just his grandma’s sewing machine, a stash of loose fabric, and his unique sartorial flair

When your back is up against the wall, your bank account is empty, and creativity and passion are the only resources you can afford, success is your only option.  Here you’ll learn how to tap into that Power of Broke to scrape, hustle, and dream your way to the top.
