*Top Ten Tuesday* Books on my TBR the Longest

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Joood - Hooligan of Platypire reviews bossed me into doing this, so I guess this is a thing I do now.

This week’s theme is how my reading habits have changed over time, but I don't really feel like my reading habits have really changed when I'm actively reading and not being paid to do it, so I'm going rogue this week. Since I recently spoke with another blogger friend about my Netgalley hole and how far back it goes, I figured it would be fun to feature the ten oldest books on my Netgalley list. So here we go.

Lydia's Enchanted Toffee by Neale Osborne
Release Date: August 18 2015

Seaside by Wylde Scott
Release Date: October 1, 2015

The Devil's Engine: Hellraisers by Alexander Gordon Smith
Release Date: December 1, 2015

Release Date: January 12, 2016

Bloodlines by Lynn Lipinski
Release Date: October 15, 2015

Wynn in Doubt by Emily Hemmer
Release Date: October 6, 2015

Release Date: October 10, 2015

Need by Joelle Charbonneau
Release Date: November 3, 2015

This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
Release Date: January 5, 2016

Black Earth by Timothy Snyder
Release Date: September 8, 2015

So those are the books that have been on my Netgalley list the longest. I am happy to say that even though I haven't read or reviewed them, I've purchased some of them on Amazon because they once again looked interesting when they were daily deals. I'm thinking I should start making it a point to read at least one of my oldest Netgalley books each month, just to start working through them, but I'm absolutely awful at committing to things.

Have you read any of these books?

If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post so I can stop by and see how your reading habits have changed (or what you've decided to do instead if you've also gone rogue this week). - Katie

  1. I have not read or heard of any of these books. Does it hurt your percentage and ability to get approved from publishers to not have read so many? Just curious how strict they really are with that type of thing. Here's my post: https://carlabruns.com/2024/10/22/ten-ways-my-reading-habits-have-changed-over-time/

    1. It absolutely hurts my percentage, my feedback is at 31% right now on Netgalley...and while that does mean I get turned down for some of the books I request, I really only request when I'm playing Netgalley Request Roulette for Top Ten Tuesday, and I still get approved for roughly 60% of the books I request (so 6 out of 10 pretty much every time). And every time I get approved for another book, I really question the publishers judgement. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  2. The oldest book on my NetGalley shelf is from 2021 so now you've made me feel much better! I used to use the NetGalleyNovember reading challenge to tackle my oldest ones but I don't think that's taking place any more. Might do my own personal one anyway...

    1. That's why I'm here, to make everyone else feel better about their reading addiction and TBR backlogs, because mine is almost certainly far worse. LOL. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  3. Seaside and Lydia's Enchanted Toffee both look fun. I will have to look for them!

    1. Right! Their covers are definitely going to draw me in more if I manage to stick to my reading one OLD book a month plan/goal. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  4. I hope you like them if or when you read them.

    1. Thanks. I fully intend to read them every time I think about them, but I suck at commitment. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  5. Ha! I always feel compelled to read my NetGalley books and do the reviews before they get published. I have not read any of these. But you do have some intriguing ones too.

    1. I always intend to read and review Netgalley books before they get published...but the road to h3ll is paved with good intentions...Also, at this point things are so out of control I almost feel like what's the point. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  6. I haven't read any of those books. It's nice to see someone else has older books on their NetGalley shelf. I was just thinking that I needed to start reading one a month, too, and try to make a dent in them.

    1. That's what I'm here for, to help other people feel better about their "failings" because mine are worse! LOL. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  7. I don't think I've heard of any of these, but based on some of the titles and cover art, some of these seem like ideal spooky books (like Frankenstein!) to read this time of year! :) Thanks for visiting my list today.

    1. That is a really solid point. The only problem is that I have two 500+ page books to read for book club meetings in a week. At this point in the month, I kind of have to give them my attention. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. It's comments like yours that remind me there is still merit to reading and reviewing older books that aren't just getting ready to release, because there are still going to be people who have never heard of some of them. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  11. About 2 years ago I decided to fix my NG ratio (mine was in the 50s). It took me most of the year, but I’m caught up and have vowed to never get behind again! It’s easy to stay up to date once you catch up. I think your plan of 1 a month is doable. It may motivate you to do more! ~Carol @ ReadingLadies

  12. Oooh, I'd be scared to look back and see what my oldest NG requests are! LOL. I've only heard of a couple of these books and haven't read any of them. I definitely feel like there's merit to reading and reviewing older books - I'm always looking for a good read, no matter when it was published.

    Happy TTT!

  13. I definitely also have quite a few Netgalley books on my TBR pile from early NG days before the feedback % came in and I clicked on whatever sounded interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I haven't heard of most of these but This is Where It Ends is on my Goodreads TBR as well - what i remember is its one of the books that blew up on the blogosphere at the time of its release?

  15. Oh. I need to read that Timothy Snyder book. I just saw him on MSNBC tonight and he is shouting a warning about Trump's fascist tendencies. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  16. I haven't read any of these. I've stopped requesting NetGalley books because I feel so guilty about not reading them in good time. I had a backlog of 20 and after I'd caught up with them I decided enough was enough and that I don't enjoy reading to a deadline - although I see you've still got these from nearly 10 years ago! So it doesn't seem to be a problem for NetGalley.

  17. Lydia's Enchanted Toffee looks super cute, and the cover really caught my eye!

  18. Falling into the NetGalley hole is so real! I had a moment years ago where I was at 100%. It didn't last long lol. I've never heard of any of these books or these authors, but the covers all look very interesting. Hope you get to read them soon!

  19. Going rogue is always fun...I just can't usually think of a rogue topic myself when I struggle with the given one! Lol. I usually tweak the given one a bit to better fit whatever my mind is thinking! I actually don't have a backlog on Netgalley myself. I guess I was always better about my requesting or I just read them as soon as I could! I think somewhere down the line I missed a feedback one or something even though I later went back and made sure every title had feedback, my ratio is still forever at 99%, but whatever. Lol.

These are definitely still new to me titles as I only recognize maybe 1, but I know I've never read any! Hope you're able to clean up your Netgalley shelves one day!

    Thanks for visiting my TTT!

  20. Great list, Katie! I haven't read any of these, but they all look really interesting. I love NetGalley! Have a good week!

  21. Holy cow that's crazy, I never requested anything I wasn't ready to read soon!! Hopefully you end up reading them at some point 😂😂

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll have to check out Black Earth. Thanks for dropping by earlier!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope that you get to them soon. I try not to look at Netgalley too often 🤣

    Have a great week!

  24. I am so glad I never got into Netgalley. I would probably be in the same situation.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love this list topic. I have some books on my NetGalley shelf that have been there for a while. I chalk it up to the fact I didn't know what I was doing when I first started with NetGalley. Maybe one day I will read the books? 🤷‍♀️

  26. Interesting topic! I took the hit and clicked "not giving feedback" on several. I've learned. I now almost never request any print/kindle books because I never read them lol. And I'm now way pickier about the audio books I request.

  27. I haven't read any of these particular books, but I do have books on my TBR from that long ago, too. I'm trying to make a point of reading some of those older TBR books, but there are also so many shiny new books I'm interested in! ;-) Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier!

  28. Wow, 2015! I kind of wonder how many of these are even still in print... The only title/author I recognize is This Is Where It Ends, but the first one looks really cute.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Interesting list! I haven't heard of any of these, but Black Earth really intrigued me. I read the summary and it said it was released in 2015, but the similarities the book talks about is even more pronounced now.

  30. I have found that if I read a lot of short "read now" books, cookbooks, and art books, I can get that percentage up. Interesting post.

    ReplyDelete
  31. To get the Netgalley percentage up, I have read a lot of quick reads--short books, art books, and cookbooks. That has helped in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I haven't even heard of these books, but Need sounds so intriguing! Adding it to my never-ending TBR and hoping for the best

  33. I have so many really old books on Netgalley. I usually try to buy them when they come out if I'm still enthused... but there's SO many. May we both catch up someday, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh This is Where it Ends, that is old haha. It happens to the best of us. I still have some that I missed on downloading (or the file was bad) so some day I'll still read them via different means and then I'll just upload the review.
