*Top Ten Tuesday* Indie/Self-Published Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Joood - Hooligan of Platypire reviews bossed me into doing this, so I guess this is a thing I do now.

This week’s theme is indie/self-published books. It's been a while since I read a self-published book, basically since I stopped proofreading because I fell into a depressive episode and couldn't keep up with my day job and my side-hustle, and the day job paid way better. The two aren't necessarily related, but it did also lead to me not reading anything for most of last year because reading contributed to me being overwhelmed. Combine that with me working desperately to claw my way out of the Netgalley hole I dug for myself and that means I don't have any recent recommendations for indie or self-published books because I haven't read any. I also don't have good memories of the last self-published books I read because of what was going on for me personally. But the prompt doesn't say that these have to be books that I've read, so I'm going to feature 10 indie/self-published books I want to read. Here we go.

Ridorkulous by Mary Frame

Totally Folked by Penny Reid

Scrooge-ish by L.B. Dunbar

My Ghost Roommate by Daryl Banner

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

Kiss and Don't Tell by Meghan Quinn

Wait With Me by Amy Daws

Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas

Where Oceans Burn by Casey L. Bond

And there you go, 10 books by indie/self-published authors that I want to read, eventually, I hope. I do already own about half of these books, which should certainly facilitate reading them, until I forget they exist on my Kindle again in 5, 4, 3...You get the picture.

What books would you recommend from indie/self-published authors? Anyone I should absolutely check out sooner rather than later? If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post below so I can repay your visit this weekend when I actually have time to do so. - Katie

  1. I guess I don't read self-published and rarely read Indie books mainly because I don't go looking for them. Sigh. I haven't heard of any of these books.

  2. I can't help you decide, as I've never heard of any of these. But I do hope you enjoy them whenever you get the chance.

  6. I'm gonna have to check out Kiss and Don't Tell, that looks like a fun read. I haven't read any of the others either, but if I could pick one for you, Kiss would be my choice.

  8. I'm the same way. I rarely read self-published books or indies, so I went with ones I want to read as well. That was way easier! LOL.

    Happy TTT!

  9. I totally get your situation with NetGalley! I'm so very behind 🫣 But I do love reading Indie romances whenever I get the chance. I also can't wait to read Meghan Quinn's book! I hope you enjoy these if you pick them up.
