*Top Ten Tuesday* Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Joood - Hooligan of Platypire reviews bossed me into doing this, so I guess this is a thing I do now.

This week’s theme is planes, trains, and automobiles, or books that feature travel. You may not be aware of this, but I'm like the queen of twisting these topics to suit my purposes. So let's see what books I have on my bookshelves with vehicles on the covers! Also, I will be attempting to not duplicate a mode of transportation.

One Day in December by Josie Silver - Bus

The Institute by Stephen King - Train

Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco - Steamboat

A Wells Landing Christmas by Amy Lillard - Carriage

Hotel Laguna by Nicola Harrison - Airplane

Al Dente's Inferno by Stephanie Cole - Truck

Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham - Bicycle

Freedom's Challenge by Anne McCaffrey - Spaceship
(This is the first book that the Amazon cover image differs from the cover on my shelf. My copy has a much more prominent spaceship on the cover.)

The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes - Horse

Allies by Alan Gratz - Tank

This was actually way harder than I thought it was going to be, and took me longer to find ten books with different modes of transportation than a similar post featuring animals on the cover. Any guesses on which mode of transportation I found last? Because I did not list the books in the order that I found them.

If you are stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post in the comments so I can stop by and check out what you did with this week's topic. - Katie

  1. Despite thinking they looked interesting, I never read Kerri's books. But the 'Houdini' cover is an ideal fit for this topic and reminds me anew of how intriguing these sound. :)

    1. I've only read the first book in the series so far, but I'd found this one at the thrift store so I needed to buy it...but it's book number 3, so until I find a copy of book number 2, I'm stuck. LOL. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  2. I liked spotting the modes of transport. I can imagine it being quite difficult!

    Have a great week!

    1. To be fair, I made it harder on myself by not duplicating modes of transportation, and refusing to highlight an author more than once (I'm looking at you Stephen King). Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  3. You certainly did find a wide variety of modes of transportation on your covers!

    1. The part I'm most proud of is that I succeeded at not duplicating and not using the same author more than once. We almost had a roller coaster from a Stephen King book in here too. And Christine, which is a car...Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. It is and it isn't...Like it's not things that go bump in the night scary, but it's this seems very plausible that it could really happen and that's horrifying scary. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. Thanks. I have a tendency to judge books by their covers (it's the only way to mood read effectively!) Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  6. Fun covers! When I want a different edition's cover, I go to Goodreads and click on 'Show all editions'. They show me all the covers and I can choose one that I like (sometimes simply to go with the colors on my blog!). Oh, I see the one with the big spaceship. Those covers have two very different moods, too!

    1. Yeah, I would have gone to Goodreads if the Amazon cover didn't also have a spaceship on it. I've been an Anne McCaffrey fan since like middle school though, so I'd have read the book regardless of the cover mood. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  7. Escaping from Houdini was so close to making my list. Thanks for the reminder to read that Alan Gratz book.

    1. You're welcome. I only own the Gratz book because my oldest read one of his books for school a few years ago and said he really liked the author, so when I see his books at the thrift store, I buy them. My son hasn't read any of them since then. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. Thanks. I'm honestly surprised I didn't find a cover with a simple car on the cover. And thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  9. I love this list and you did great picking all modes of transport without duplicating! I somehow struggled big time this weekend and went with the most broad option possible, haha 😂

    1. I mean, the publishers already have them up for request on Netgalley. Some of them even release at the beginning of September, so we're less than a month away from that. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  14. Nice! I did the same thing, but I had to duplicate some forms of transportation since I used books off my TBR list. Here's mine: http://www.blogginboutbooks.com/2024/08/top-ten-tuesday-planes-trains-and.html

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

    1. I mean, these books are technically on my TBR as the only one I've read is The Institute (currently reading actually). But they're not really on my immediate TBR. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie
