We are on to a new week for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by the lovely folks over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. This weeks questions is:
What apps/websites do you use to make your social media posts? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)
If we're talking blog social media posts, it's mostly just Facebook, with the occasional pic thrown on Instagram for good measure, but my Instagram account is not exclusively blog stuff so I'm not sure it really counts, but I do use it for some book promotional purposes. If we're talking just in general, it's still mostly Facebook, with the occasional Goodreads or Storygraph update (although I have zero friends on Storygraph so I'm not sure if that counts as social media either because I'm not being very social). I have a Snapchat that I mostly ignore (I wouldn't know how to use it for book promotional purposes anyway). I have a TikTok account but I've never posted a single video and mostly use it for doom scrolling (and haven't even done that in a hot minute because Facebook reels work for that too). And I'm technically on Twitter but...
Mostly, I'm in the age demographic where adjusting to new technology is becoming difficult. I don't understand the mechanics of what makes a viral video on TikTok (I know what I enjoy watching, but I'm not on the bookish side of TikTok for some reason so I don't even have examples of good content for that anyway). I'm too long winded for Twitter's format, even before it became a dumpster fire. I don't know how one would even use Snapchat for promotional purposes (although I'm sure it's possible). Mostly I'm comfortable with Facebook's mechanics, as long as they'd just freakin' leave them alone.
What about you? What social media do you use? Got any tips for me on how to make effective content for not-Facebook? If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post below so I can pay you a visit as well. - Katie
