Synopsis

Sometimes, what happens behind closed doors should stay there…

When the women of Springport, Louisiana found a new stay at home job—being a virtual Dominatrix—they are excited about the easy money. But what seemed to have started out as a dream, quickly becomes a nightmare for many of them. As they will find out, few things are easy in life and there is always a price to pay. Some of these women will pay with their lives.

As the city is plagued with unsolved murders, Detectives LeDoux and Riley are faced with the job of finding out what is true, and what is make believe.

It seems the victims only have one thing in common, their jobs. With everything in an uproar, some people will find love in the strangest of places, while others are forced to deal with the consequences of their actions.

After victim after victim pop up, the Dominatrix’s must start to ask themselves, how far would they be willing to go to provide for their family? What sacrifices are they willing to make to keep their home? And even more, how many secrets can one woman hold onto before she starts telling someone what happens behind her closed doors?

Review

I was hired to proofread this book post-publication. The only aspects of the book that I influenced were spelling and grammar. The author is not aware that I'm posting this review. If you feel that my connection to the book makes my review unreliable, so be it, but this is my honest review.

This story is told in omniscient third person, giving us glimpses into several different characters lives. This gives us a wide range of experience for the story, but also leads to some repetitiveness. The repetitive nature of the story serves a purpose though, demonstrating a couple different things, so it wasn't particularly annoying to me.

Usually I can figure out who the killer is in a book like this fairly early on, but Secrets kept me guessing until the end. I honestly basically suspected every single male character at least once, and most of them were my prime suspect on more than one occasion.

Overall I give this book 5 out of 5 stars because it kept me guessing for so long. - Katie

I do have to add that I am unsure if the file on Amazon has been updated yet since I returned the corrections to the author, so several spelling and grammar errors may remain at the moment.
