This is the first book I have read by M L Stephens. After reading the blurb the book sounded exactly like something I'd really enjoy. I was also very keen to read Bare Assets as I love finding new authors. I loved M L Stephens writing style and I'm so glad that I got to read this book. I'll defiantly be reading more books by M L Stephens in the future.
Bare Assets is a story of Love, Loss and Sucess.
Six years ago Angela Fletcher packed up her life and left her home to move to Texas. Having left because of a broken heart and shattered dreams, Angela has worked very hard to build her life back up and completely reinvent herself. She is now a successful bar owner and she will not jeopardise what she has worked for, for anybody or anything. Angela stays clear of any situation that will cause drama or heartbreak in her life. She only has one night stands so she can keep her distance at all times.
Dean Murray is a man with a very big reputation. He's known as the "love em and leave em" type. Dean however had been coming to Angela's bar for years. He feels so connection with Angela and really likes her. He finally works up the courage to make his move with Angela as she makes his heart melt.
Angela likes Dean but she doesn't want to put herself out there again or risk getting hurt again or risk her new life. The other problem standing in both their ways is Angela's past is about to come back and possibly destroy her new life and her future relationship with Dean.
Angela's story is very inspirational. She has worked her way back up from rock bottom to make her life what it is now. She's respected In a mans world and can hold her own. Reading about such a strong women was refreshing. I'm so used to reading about broken women who are bought back to life by a man. Angela was amazing and I'd love to read more stories with women in who are just as strong.
Dean is very hot and sexy. You will swoons over him. I connected with his character quickly and I loved reading about him and learning more about him and his past, Deans story is heart wrenching and very emotional. He's protective, caring and very loving. I loved how he cared so deeply for Angela and how he starts to make her whole again.
Dean and Angela's relationship isn't smooth sailing. There are lots of ups and downs, especially as Angela's past collides with her present. You don't know how the story will end.
The sexual tension and chemistry between the 2 characters is incredibly hot. The scenes were written very well and will defiantly get you all hot under your collar. There were some great one liners rough out the story that really break up the email ally journey your reading about.
M.L Stephens writing was brilliantly. She has a great way of describing things to the reader in a I depth way that bring you in to the story.
I loved this book and can't wait to read more books for M L Stephens in the future.

4.5 StarsThis is the second book that I have read by M L Stephens. After reading Bare Assets, I feel in love with M.L Stephens writing style and her characters. I couldn't wait to read this book and see if M.L Stephens has hit the same standard she has hit previously.
Bare essentials is a stand alone novel. However there is a character crossover for M.L Stephens other book, Bare Assets. I would recommend reading Bare Assets first so you get the background knowledge you need of Cutter.
Cutter is missing his ex girlfriend, Angie. Cutter is using his escape of country music to block out his pain and try and move forward with his life.
Holly Harrison is on the look out for the next country singing superstar. Holly hears Cutter singing and knows instantly that he is going to be a superstar and that she will be the one to help him get there.
The trouble is Cutter and Holly have big secrets. "Country Music" has bought them both together, but will both their dirty secrets keep them apart?
Cutter oozes sex appeal. He is the hottest cowboy I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. To top it off Cutter is amazingly talented. Who doesn't love a hot, singing cowboy?! Unfortunately Cutter had been hurt so badly in the past that he can't trust anybody and he does everything possible to avoid relationships.
Having background knowledge of Cutter really helped my connection with him in this book. I wasn't a Hugh fan of Cutters in Bare Assets , but knowing what he has been through and how his past has affected his present, is heartbreaking. All i wanted was him to get his HEA and be loved like he deserves.
Holly was the right person to make Cutters life better. She has been hurt herself in the past and doesn't do relationships either. She's unbelievably strong and feisty. Holly did a great job at distracting Cutter from his own pain and eventually she started healing him, but at the same time healing herself without realising.
The chemistry between them both is out of this world. There is sexy hot sex scenes, but not to many that the sex over takes the book or the story. Both hold secrets that they don't want the other to know about, because of this there is lots of twists and turns.
This wasn't a predictable love story, it's a journey of 2 people healing each other. It's a amazing book that will take you through so many different emotions.
M l Stephens has wrote a another beautiful, heartbreaking story that pulls at your heart strings.
If you've not read any of M L Stephens books than I highly recommend reading them today.
You won't be disappointed.
