Stacking The Shelves is a feature/weekly meme run by Reading Reality in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Now, I already have a monthly post I do featuring the books I get in the mail (and it's a lot because I have a serious Goodreads First Reads giveaway addiction), and I'm posting my monthly Read-A-Thon posts again too, which covers the books I receive through Netgalley. So my STS post will feature all the books I've been one-clicking on Amazon, winning through Goodreads, and the occasional books that I buy at the store.
On that note, here are the books I picked up since the last time I participated in STS about a month ago. Because there were several different free ebook blasts in that time that I knew about, I will only be featuring a small sampling of the freebies I grabbed. I have almost 100 pages of digital orders on Amazon to sift through for this, and some of the free books I got were through Apple Books or BookFunnel. Let's go.
Purchased
House of Beating Wings by Olivia Wildenstein - I grabbed this on sale for just $0.99. I was really drawn in by the title font.
Blackwood Institute: The Complete Trilogy by J Rose - I got this for just $1.99. I've been getting more into horror again lately, so this really spoke to me.
How to Stand Up to a Dictator by Maria A Ressa - I got this on sale for just $1.99. Seemed pretty relevant considering current events.
Succubus Summoner: The Complete Omnibus by Virgil Knightley and Annabelle Hawthorne - I got this on sale for a mere $1.49 (it's only $2.99 now). I'm really not sure why I decided this book was a thing I needed.
The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab - I got this on sale for just $1.99. Now I just need to make some time to read something by her.
Monarch by Erik Fox - I paid full price for this one (only $3.99) because my Thrills and Chills bookclub is going to be reading it for our July meeting. It's also by a local author who I've met at a book fair, so that's cool.
The Book of Lost Enchantments by Jessica Dodge - I grabbed this for the bargain price of just $1.49. I've been really into witchy books lately (not that I've been reading many with all my book club reads getting in the way).
Low-Hanging Fruit by Randy Rainbow - I grabbed this on sale for just $2.99. I really enjoy his social media presence, so hopefully his book is good too.
The Stranger in Her House by John Marrs - I've seen a lot of people talking about John Marrs, so when I saw this book was on sale for just $1.99, I grabbed it. Now I can see what all the fuss is about.
None Left to Tell by Noelle West Ihli - I got this on sale for just $0.99. I'd read another book by her in the past and liked it well enough.
A Fellowship of Bakers & Magic by J. Penner - I grabbed this on sale for just $0.99. I'm in a really witchy era in my reading right now.
How To Piss Off Men by Kyle Prue - I got this book for the bargain price of $1.99. If you do not follow Kyle Prue on Facebook, you should because his "how to piss off men" videos are hilarious.
Compromised: Counterintelligence and the Threat of Donald J Trump by Peter Strzok - I got this on sale for just $2.99. And I might get around to reading it sooner rather than later.
All Eyes on You by Sam Frances - I got this for just $0.99, or at least that's what Amazon indicates, but I may have used Kindle Beta Rewards to drop the price for myself, because this is a book club selection.
The Super Easy Vegan Slow Cooker Cookbook by Toni Okamoto - I grabbed this at the bargain price of $2.99. I'm not personally vegan at the moment at least, but I have some friends who are, so I'd like to find some recipes to cook when I know they'll be around.
Bitter House by Kiersten Modglin - I got this on sale for just $2.49. I've seen a lot of people say she's a great scary book author, so I'm giving her a go, eventually, probably, maybe. Stop judging me.
My Funny Demon Valentine by Aurora Ascher - I got this on sale for a measly $3.99. I've seen it all over Facebook lately, so when it was on sale, I jumped on that.
The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland - I got this on sale for just $1.99. Every time I see the cover I'm intrigued, so I finally bit the bullet when the ebook was cheap.
Tarot by the Numbers by Liz Dean - I got this on sale for just $3.99. I decided earlier this year that I want to learn to read Tarot this year, and getting books about that is part of that learning. Getting some on sale is just a bonus.
City of Gods and Monsters by Kayla Edwards - I grabbed this on sale for just $0.99. I'm not entirely sure what inspired the purchase, but it was just a dollar.
City of Souls and Sinners by Kayla Edwards - This book was also on sale for just $0.99. And this one might be why I bought the other one, because this is book two in the series and I found this cover more appealing.
Three Mothers by Hannah Beckerman - This was my April selection for Amazon First Reads.
The One That Got Away by Mike Gayle - This was a second freebie from Amazon First Reads, the bonus short read if you will.
Parable of the Talents by Octavia E. Butler - I got this on sale for just $2.99.
Lore by Alexandra Bracken - I got this for the bargain price of $1.99. I've had my eye on it for a while, so catching it on sale was great.
Gold Digger by Susie Tate - I grabbed this for a mere $0.99. I've read another book by this author for one of my book clubs and enjoyed it well enough.
Deathless Divide by Justina Ireland - I got this on sale for just $2.99. I've read the first book in this series, and I'm excited to see what this one has in store for me.
The Romance in Duet Collection by Lauren Blakely - I got this entire collection on sale for just $0.99, and it's still listed at that price for me.
The Fools Guide to Tarot by Mystic Rainn - I got this for just $2.99, again because I'm hoping to learn Tarot this year.
The Pucking Wrong Number by C.R. Jane - I splurged on the audio addition to my ebook so I could finish this book in time for a book club meeting.
Dream a Little Dream by Kerstin Gier - I got this on sale for just $1.99. I just love this cover.
The Mad Women's Ball by Victoria Mas - I grabbed this for the bargain price of $1.99. The cover is intriguing and the blurb has me interested.
The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo - I got this on sale for just $2.99. I feel like it's been suggested a few times in my book clubs, so there's definitely a chance that it's going to be picked by one of them at some point.
Cold Creamatorium by Jozsef Debreczeni - I got this on sale for just $2.99. I'm not sure if I'm in the right headspace to read it right now though.
Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center - I got this on sale for just $1.99. I've won a few books by Katherine Center on Goodreads, but this isn't one of them, and it's a show on Netflix, so I have to read it before I can watch it.
I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman - I got this audiobook for just $2.99 as an Audible Daily Deal. One of the ladies at a book club had talked about this book, so when it showed up as a daily deal just a couple days later, I was like "sold."
On Freedom by Timothy Snyder - I got this on sale for just $1.99. It's definitely one of the books that everyone should probably read, considering what's going on in American politics.
The Madness by Dawn Kurtagich - I got this on sale for just $2.99. There's just something about this cover that drew me in.
Filthy Rich Fae by Geneva Lee - I got this on sale for just $0.99. Although Filthy Rich Vampire was just a meh book for me, I've heard this one is so much better...and it was only 99 cents!
The House That Horror Built by Christina Henry - I got this on sale for just $1.99. I enjoyed her Alice in Wonderland retellings, so I'm excited to check this out.
Quozl by Alan Dean Foster - I got this on sale for just $1.99. He's one of the OG big Sci-Fi authors (after Mary Shelley of course), and this is a way for me to check out his writing.

I had intended to get completely caught up on my Stacking the Shelves stuff (because I started building this post a month ago, and didn't want to just scrap that), but this has already gotten crazy long so I'll just finish catching up next week (because in theory I will not take a whole month off again, that's the goal).
Do any of these books catch your attention? Any of them you think I ought to read sooner rather than later?
What new books have you been adding to your shelves lately? If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to drop a link to your post below so I can check out all your pretties. - Katie
