*Top Ten Tuesday* Topic Rewind-Books I Was So Excited to Get, but Still Haven't Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Joood - Hooligan of Platypire reviews bossed me into doing this, so I guess this is a thing I do now.

This week’s theme is a topic rewind, where I get to pick a past prompt that I either missed or want to redo. Since I wasn't blogging for a couple years, it was fairly easy to find several topics that spoke to me, and I decided to go with books that I was so excited to get, but are still languishing on my shelves, unread. To that end, I will be scouring my records of books I won through Goodreads that I got super excited about when I saw I'd won. Here we go.

Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
Won in 2016

The Book of Esther by Emily Barton
Won in 2016

The Fifth Petal by Brunonia Barry
Won in 2017

Won in 2017

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
Won in 2017

The Sky is Yours by Chandler Klang Smith
Won in 2017

Bookish Boyfriends by Tiffany Schmidt
Won in 2018

Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd
Won in 2018

One Day in December by Josie Silver
Won in 2018

The Song of the Jade Lily by Kirsty Manning
Won in 2019

There you have it. Ten books that I won through Goodreads giveaways that I was super excited about winning, and have yet to read. It is worth mentioning that I didn't even consider sharing any of the Kindle books that I've won through Goodreads, and in the time that I've been meticulously tracking my wins via screenshots shared to albums on Facebook I've won 4,504 books (I won 1,202 books in 2018 alone, but that was when they opened up ebook giveaways as an option for all authors, and for like three months didn't charge authors to host them, so a lot of those wins are ebooks and therefore not taking up any space in my house).

Do any of these books look like I should move them to the top of the line sooner rather than later (assuming I can track them down again since most of my books are currently in boxes waiting to be unpacked and up on my shelves)?

What theme did you pick for this week's post? If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to share a link to your post in the comments below. I like to return all visits, but can't typically do so until the weekend, so those links help me out a ton. - Katie

  1. I know the feeling. Once I own a book I find myself putting it on the back burner for some reason.

    1. I think part of my problem is that I see I won the book and get excited, but by the time it arrives a week or more later I've found a new shiny thing to hold my interest. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. I'm going to have to pay attention to books as I'm putting them away so I can keep these more accessible for myself. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  3. I read One Day in December years ago and although the details are fuzzy now, I do remember really enjoying it. And I read How to Walk Away last year and also really enjoyed it—Center really knows how to write emotional and heartfelt books! I hope you enjoy these whenever you get around to picking them up!

    1. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed a couple of them at least. That makes me feel more positive about how I'll feel about them (although the covers already tell me I'm going to love them. LOL). Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  4. Several of these look really interesting and Song of the Jade Lily is the keeper that will make it to my list. Still don't understand how you succeed on so many GR wins.....I enter every time and never win anything. Sigh. I also haven't read any of them to give you a suggestion. Hope you enjoy what you ARE reading. :)

    1. I have incredibly good luck. I also think having more friends on Goodreads may work in my favor for the algorithms for the giveaways, maybe. Being active might also help. But those are things I've simply hypothesized about. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. As long as I'm not the only one. I feel like now would be a great time to dive into it though, with all the hullabaloo around Drag Queens. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  6. I absolutely love How to Walk Away. So good. I hope you get to that one soon. I also read and enjoyed The Fifth Petal, but it wasn't as good as The Lace Reader. Have you read The Lace Reader? If not, that's a must before The Fifth Petal. Just mentioning that since you won it.

    1. I have not read The Lace Reader...but I kind of have a thing for reading books in series out of order, or at least not caring about their order. Thanks for the heads up though. And thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. I don't know, it seems like other bloggers (at least some of them) definitely have their ish together much better than me. They plan what they're going to read and stick to it and I'm just in awe of that kind of organization. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  10. The only book on your list I'm familiar with is One Day in December, and it ended up DNF it. I just found myself annoyed with the characters too much to stick with it.

    1. Oh no. I hope I don't get annoyed by the characters, because that always just slows down my reading (I'm far too stubborn to DNF books still). Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  11. Wow you have won a lot of Goodreads giveaways-I usually don't enter because the ones I'm interested in normally end up being US only. I've not read any of these books, but I hope you enjoy them whenever you do.
