Stacking The Shelves is a feature/weekly meme created by Tynga’s Reviews in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Now, I already have a monthly post I do featuring the books I get in the mail (and it's a lot because I have a serious Goodreads First Reads giveaway addiction), and I'm posting my monthly Read-A-Thon posts again too, which covers the books I receive through Netgalley. So my STS post will feature all the books I've been one-clicking on Amazon.
On that note, here are the books I picked up this week. All Goodreads First Reads ebook wins unless otherwise specified.
Not Even a Mouse by Dahlia Donovan - I snagged this beauty for free (still free) because it will be a great (and short) read for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (Have you signed up for the challenge yet? You only have to commit to reading and reviewing a single holiday themed book between now and Christmas, and could even use this freebie!)
August Moon by Jess Lourey - I grabbed this book for free (no longer free). Not sure where I saw it shared though.
Moonlight on the Thames by Lauren Westwood - I grabbed this book for just 99 cents (still 99 cents) because it'll be a great read for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (Now would be a great time to sign up for the challenge as it officially started yesterday.)
Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses by Jenny Hale - I grabbed this festive holiday novel on sale for just 99 cents (no longer on sale). It'll be a great option for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (You really should sign up you know. It's tons of fun.)
Dark Thoughts by Cynthia Sax - I grabbed this book for free (maybe still free) after seeing it shared on Facebook, most likely by the author.
Heni Hani and the Magic Pendant by Peter Ness
Flunky: Pawns and Kings by Michael Rickard
Under the Magnolia by Fleur Smith - I snagged this for free (no longer free) after seeing it shared by the author on Facebook.
Through the Fire by Fleur Smith - Got this book for free too (no longer free).
Igniting the Spark by Fleur Smith - Here's another freebie for me (no longer free).
Into the Rain by Fleur Smith - Grabbed this one for free as well (no longer free).
Rise From Ash by Fleur Smith - Another freebie for me (no longer free).
Living with Embers by Fleur Smith - I got this book for free also (no longer free).
Besieged by Rain by Fleur Smith - Here was another freebie I grabbed (no longer free).
Court the Fire by Fleur Smith - I snagged this for free too (no longer free).
Among the Debris by Fleur Smith - Yet another freebie from Fleur (no longer free).
Tharzule's Tome of Wishes by Malinda Smiley - I snagged this book for free (no longer free) after seeing it shared in an author newsletter I'm subscribed to (that I opened for the first time ever this past week).
Blood Penance by B. Griffin - This is another freebie (no longer free) from that same newsletter.
Dominion: Edge of the Storm by Sam Ferguson - Another freebie (no longer free) from that newsletter.
Son of the Dragon by Sam Ferguson - Here's another freebie (no longer free, but only 99 cents) from that same newsletter.
Brother's Haymaker by Sam Ferguson - Yet another freebie (no longer free) from that newsletter.
Jonathan Haymaker by Sam Ferguson - Got this book for free (no longer free) from that newsletter as well.
Christmas on the Little Cornish Isles by Phillipa Ashley - I snagged this book for just $1.99 (maybe still $1.99) because it'll be great for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (Seriously have you signed up yet?)
Christmas at the Cozy Cafe by Cara Darling - I grabbed this beauty for just 99 cents (maybe still 99 cents). I plan on reading it for a 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge at some point. (You should totes go sign up now if you haven't. You can navigate there from the toolbar at the top of this page.)
My Mistletoe Mix-up by Judy Corry - I grabbed this beauty for free (no longer free) because it'll be fabulous for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge at some point. (You know you want to sign up and join the fun.)
Story-Flash: Step-by-Step Technology of Plot Development by Alexander Astremsky - I snagged this for free (maybe still free). I think I got an email direct from the author about it being available for free (because I have an email address listed on Amazon).
Road Stories by Ed Davis
Love Love by Beth Michele - I snagged this for free (maybe still free). I'm really not sure where I saw it shared though.
Sometimes Never by Cheryl McIntyre - I grabbed this book for free (maybe still free) after seeing it shared somewhere on Facebook, I think.
A Gift From Fate by Cheryl McIntyre - I snagged this for just 99 cents (maybe still 99 cents) because it'll be a great read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge (and it's short!) (Sign up for the challenge now and join the fun with me.)
In the Thick of It: Raising Sons to be Men of Unyielding Conviction in a Culture of Confusion by Jason Cruise
Rampage: MacArthur, Yamashita, and the Battle of Manila by James M. Scott
Alone in the Light by M.K. Williams
Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra by Anne Rice - I snagged this Audible book for just $5.95 (still on sale through the 30th if you're an Audible member). It's a book that I'd guaranteed a copy of through Penguin's First to Read program, and then my loan expired before I had the chance to read it.
The Room on Rue Amelie by Kristen Harmel - I snagged this Audible book for just $5.95 (still on sale through the 30th for Audible members). It's set around WWII so it's right up my alley and has been on my radar for a bit.
Believe Me: A Memoir of Love, Death, and Jazz Chickens by Eddie Izzard - I snagged this Audible book for just $5.95 (still on sale through the 30th for Audible members). I previously read this book through Penguin's First to Read program, and felt like I probably would have enjoyed it more as an audiobook, so I look forward to proving myself either right or wrong at some point.
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath - I was able to grab this Audible book for just $4.95 (still on sale through the 30th for Audible members). I believe this book is on the list of books every woman she read before she turns 40, the list that I'm trying to read through myself before I turn 40 in just over 5 years in a race with Platypire Bob. (I have currently made minimal progress on that, but having this in audio will help some).
The Memori Project by Martin Ashwell
The Perfect Distraction by Susan Coventry
Love, Murder & Mayhem: Cosmic Tales of the Heart Gone Deadly Wrong by Russ Colchamiro
Murder in Her Stocking by G.A. McKevett - I got this book on sale for just $2.99 (still on sale) because it'll be a fun mystery read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (You've signed up by now right?)
Last Chance Christmas by Joanne Rock - I grabbed this festive book for free (still free) so that I can read it at some point for a 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (How many more times do I have to ask before you sign up to join the fun?)
Make Me Over by Leslie Kelly - I grabbed this for free (no longer free). It has the added benefit of being set during the holidays, so it'll be a good read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge I'm hosting. (You can sign up any time now, and if you already have, then YAY!)
The Witch's Knot by H R Conklin
Seafire by Natalie C. Parker - I snagged this beauty on sale for just $2.99 (no longer on sale). I'd guaranteed a copy through Penguin's First to Read program and ran out of time on my loan to read it, but now I don't have to worry about that.
The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan - I snagged this baby on sale for just $2.99 (and it looks like it's still on sale). It's going to be a great addition to my Christmas novel stockpile for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge I host annually. (You're going to sign up right? Like you're just trying to get through this whole post first, I'm sure.)
Pawprints and Predicaments by Bethany Blake - I grabbed this festive pet-filled cozy mystery on sale for just $1.99 (no longer on sale). I figure it'll be a nice change of pace for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge at some point. (You're going to sign up soon, right?)
Bring Me Home for Christmas by Robyn Carr - I grabbed this beauty on sale for just $1.99 (no longer on sale, but if you have the Audible romance package, you can listen to it for FREE). It looks like it'd be a really cute read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (You're so close to ready to sign up right? You realize I'm going to keep badgering you to do so, right? I can be quite persistent.)
A Miracle on Hope Street by Emma Heatherington - I snagged this beauty on sale for just 99 cents (and it appears to still be on sale). It'll be a great read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge. (Which you should definitely have signed up for by now.)
The Republic of Pirates: Being the True and Surprising Story of the Caribbean Pirates and the Man Who Brought Them Down by Colin Woodard - I snagged this on sale for just $2.99 (no longer on sale), although it was ultimately free for me because I had Great on Kindle credit that was used for my purchase (and then I got $1.40 of Great on Kindle credit back, so it's like a double win there).
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo - I snagged this on sale for just $2.99 (no longer on sale). I've heard great things about this series, so catching this on sale was a major plus for me.
Seige and Storm by Leigh Bardugo - I got this on sale for just $2.99 (no longer on sale) as well. I already had the first book in the series, so now I have the complete set (unless there are more books to come, but I'll obviously get those later, probably, maybe.)
And that is all the books I picked up this past week. Boy is that quite the haul (way larger than my hauls have been recently), and I don't even want to get a calculator to figure out how much money I spent because then I might have to start exercising more self-restraint and I don't wanna. You also may have noticed some subtle hints I was dropping throughout the list. So subtle.
What new books have you added to your shelves recently? - Katie
