We are on to a new week for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by the lovely folks over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. This weeks questions is:
But that need was the inspiration for me to host a 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge this year (and if you get the same need, I'd love to have you join in, you can find out more details by clicking on the caption for the image below.) The linky included is also good for getting holiday themed book recommendations, if you're looking for those.
What about you? Do you feel the strong need to read holiday themed romances during this time of year? - Katie
*If you're stopping by from the linkup, please be sure to leave a link to your post so I can visit you back. It may take a few days as my weekend is booked solid with activities, but I will come check you out, promise.*
If you celebrate Christmas, do you feel the need to stop reading anything but Christmas-themed romances as the holiday season starts? (submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books)Yes and no. Right around Thanksgiving I start to get the undeniable need to read Christmas themed romances, sure, but once I get a couple of them under my belt, that need abates a little and I start to switch between Christmas themed books and just normal books.

I am trying out Christmas themed books more often this year and it's been a lot of fun. I am not big on romance, so it's been a little difficult looking for ones focused less on romance and more on family. :)

Oh, that does sound tough. I look forward to seeing what you find.
DeleteThanks for stopping by. - Katie
I also tend to read whatever books I want during the holidays.

I mean, I still want to read holiday themed books for a little while, but then I also always want to try to finish up all the books that I've got currently started so I can start the new year with a clean slate (I never succeed, but I try).

So you feel this "craving", too? Lol. In my case, though, the craving does not disappear once I've read one or two Christmas romances. (And they DO have to be romances, lol.) If anything, the need to read such books gets stronger. After the Big Day, I fall into a mild depression, and sadly start putting away the Christmas romances.... :(
ReplyDeleteChristmas is such a very special time of year for me, that I want to celebrate it in every way possible, and that includes reading stories about how the magic and peace of this beautiful season can touch romantic relationships with that special something....sigh.... <3 <3
Anyway, thanks for sharing!! <3 :)
If you still want to read Christmas themed romances after Christmas, why put them away? I mean, unless you essentially set aside December for Christmas reading and then just have to get back into review deadlines and whatnot.
DeleteIn any case, thanks for stopping by. - Katie
You're ABSOLUTELY right!! Why should I stop reading Christmas-themed romances after Christmas? I've been reading them only at this time of year for several years now. And, while I don't have review deadlines, (unless I'm reviewing for a blog tour), I do have blog tours that I sign up for; thus, I do have some deadlines. But I'm going to take your suggestion to heart, and continue reading these books throughout the year. That will surely cure me of the post-Christmas blues! Lol. Thanks!! <3 <3 <3
DeleteYou're more than welcome for my visit!! HUGS!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
