Brooklyn Stevens sits in a pool of her own blood, tied up and gagged. No one outside of these dank basement walls knows she’s here. No one can hear her scream.
Sofia Flores knows she shouldn’t have gotten involved. When she befriended Riley, Grace, and Alexis on her first day at school, she admired them, with their perfect hair and their good-girl ways. They said they wanted to save Brooklyn. They wanted to help her. Sofia didn’t realize they believed Brooklyn was possessed.
Now, Riley and the girls are performing an exorcism on Brooklyn—but their idea of an exorcism is closer to torture than salvation. All Sofia wants is to get out of this house. But there is no way out. Sofia can’t go against the other girls...unless she wants to be next.
By the shockingly twisted end, readers will be faced with the most haunting question of all: Is there evil in all of us?

I found the second and third books in this series at the thrift store, and for once I made sure to borrow and read the first book before reading any others. This is my honest review.
This was a fairly fast-paced book and a pretty quick read for me, but it was also a bit ridiculous in the end. It started off interestingly enough with a religious Mean Girls vibe, if Regina George had asked Cady to spy on Janice Ian. The story really picked up, and got weird, when they decided they were going to save Brooklyn.
See, they've kidnapped her and taken her to the unfinished house where they hangout whenever anything isn't going their way. It begins believable enough because three girls could easily overpower one and get her tied up in the basement. But over the course of the torture they call an exorcism, things get more and more unbelievable. For one thing, this new build, but unfinished house, has running water. For another, the Regina George character somehow knows literally everything that Sofia is doing.
So now I have two books that I'm not in a hurry to read and have to wait until I forget how absurdly this story ended before I can read them. Overall I give this book 2.1732 out of 5 stars. - Katie
