*Discussion Questions* The Stranded by Sarah Daniels *SPOILERS*

I have spent a few years in a couple of different book clubs now, and I've led my fair share of discussions (so every time it was my turn in the rotation to pick a book basically, although I've been slacking a little in my current book club). I can't tell you how many times I've finished a book that I'd chosen for our meeting, only to realize that I couldn't think of a single question to ask (and I'd forgotten to consider that while reading). In those instances I would run to the interwebs to search for discussion questions, just hoping that someone else had been kind enough to think of questions and share them with the world. I had about a 50% success rate with that.

The Stranded inspired several questions for me while I was reading, so you will find them below.

1) Were you surprised the Federated States wouldn't take in refugees? Why or why not?

2) Do you think you would want to marry and procreate if your life was on a ship instead of land? Would it depend on what class of passenger you were?

3) Did you see any parallels between the way the ships residents were treated and other events from history?

4) At what point did you realize the Captain was part of the rebellion?

5) Do you think the government of the Federated States overstepped their bounds sending soldiers onto ships at sea?

6) If you could take memory suppressants for a painful memory, would you?

7) Which states do you think make up the Federated States?

8) Do you think Enid was willing to sacrifice herself so none of the kids would die, or did you think that she was double-crossing them?

9) What do you think happens to any of the passengers who survive the ship hitting land?

And that is all the questions I came up with while reading. If you have chosen to read this book with your book club, I hope they'll help you to get the conversation flowing. And if you have read the book, are there any other questions you would ask (and may I add them to the list if you share any?) - Katie
