*Book Blogger Hop* Libby? Who's Libby?

We are on to a new week for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by the lovely folks over at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. This weeks questions is:

Have you joined the library reading app, Libby? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

The short answer is no, no I have not.

The long answer is that I'm not interested in joining Libby because I don't like borrowing books. I prefer to have at least the illusion of owning books (if you pay attention to the terms of use on kindle books it indicates you don't really own ebooks, you're just paying for the right to use them, but that can be rescinded at Amazon's discretion, I think). But I also don't like feeling rushed to read a book if it's just not hitting right at the time that I'm working on it. When I own the books, or at least appear to own the books, I can read them whenever I'm in the mood for that type of story.

What about you? Have you downloaded Libby? If so, do you like it? If you're stopping by from the link-up, please be sure to drop a link to your post below so I can stop by to pay you a visit. - Katie

  1. I reserve books through Libby. When they are ready for me, I can push back receipt of the books for a week, two weeks, a month, or more. It works well for me.

  2. I completely understand about wanting to read it when you want it, and not wanting to have to wait. That's the hardest thing about new library books, is the wait list!

  3. I like Libby. You can borrow and re-borrow as many times as you like, as long as no one else has requested it. And even after that, you can borrow it again. I have borrowed books and been able to keep them for up to nine weeks. And like Deb said, if you're not ready to read them, you can delay receipt of them. It saves me a lot of money. I understand wanting to feel like you own them, though. :)

  4. Yup I am the same way! I never seem to have good luck with libraries either. Like the book may not even be in their system and I don't always feel like trying to track it down in other counties or whatnot. I know there's interloan books and whatnot, but as I said, I'm very much a mood reader and want the book when I want it! Lol.

    Thanks for visiting my BBH!

  6. For me, I use Libby for audiobooks. And at this stage in my life, audiobooks are too expensive to buy, so using the library apps like LIbby make sense to me. And since I've slowly been working up my speed in listening, it usually only takes about 2 1/2 work days to get through a 10 hour audiobook, so more then enough time for me! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
