*Stacking the Shelves* 11 March 2017

(Titles link to Amazon via Amazon Affiliate links)

Stacking The Shelves is a feature/weekly meme created by Tynga’s Reviews in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Now, I already have a monthly post I do featuring the books I get in the mail (and it's a lot because I have a serious Goodreads First Reads giveaway addiction), and I'm going to try to start posting my monthly Read-A-Thon posts again too (even if none of the Platypires will be joining me), which will cover the books I receive through Netgalley. But I also go to my thrift store at least once a week, and often leave with a bag full of books. It's such a common occurrence that I'm known as The Book Lady to the frequent volunteers (and I suspect that they've started scheduling their $1 bag of books sales for Thursdays simply because that is the day I usually visit.) So my Stacking the Shelves posts are going to focus on my thrift store hauls, because this is my blog and I do what I want.

On that note, here are the books I picked up this week.

The Patchwork Marriage by Jane Green - I buy just about anything by Jane Green, I'm not sure I've even read anything she's written, but I own several of her books now.
Heart of Glass by Zoey Dean - I think I have a few books from The A List series, which seems to be sort of like Gossip Girl. This is book 8.
Escape from Mr. Limoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein - The cover for this book is super fun, and I think it might just be a fun read for my kids (and myself, I totally bought it because I want to read it even though it's for children between 8-12.)
Maddaddam by Margaret Atwood - I buy everything I find by Margaret Atwood. This particular book has lots of underlining and notes in the margins.
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood - This book also has lots of underlining and notes in the margins. Now I regret not buying The Year of the Flood as well since all three were surely donated by the same person (I already own The Year of the Flood). Maybe it will still be there next week.
Pheme The Gossip by Joan Holub & Suzanne Williams - I own several of the Goddess Girls books, I don't think this is one of them. I think they look like great books for young girls particularly.
Medusa the Mean by Joan Holub & Suzanne Williams - Same reason as above.
Monster High by Lisi Harrison - My son actually asked if we could get this book, and because I teach my children that there is no such thing as girl books and boy books, I said "Absolutely!" And even if he doesn't like it, my daughter might.

This was a weak thrift store week, but because I was at the thrift store on International Women's Day, these books only cost me $1.40 total (I saved 30% on my entire purchase simply for being born with a vagina.)

What books did you get this week? - Katie

    1. I really liked Atwood's writing style in The Handmaid's Tale, so that's at least a good start. And that trilogy sounds incredibly interesting to me, so it may end up on my TBR short list. - Katie

  3. Hey, nothing wrong with an easier bigger discount! $1.40... I need your shopping skills. Or maybe that particular store. Or both. ;D I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    1. The trick to getting such great deals on books is being affiliated with the military and stationed overseas. People PCSing back stateside are worried about making weight for the move, and books tend to be one of the first things to go, so the thrift store is always well stocked, and when they get too well stocked, books go on sale to move them out the door faster. During the summer months, books are pretty much constantly $1 a bag because that's when most families move. - Katie
