*Stacking the Shelves* 17 November 2018

(Titles link to Amazon via Amazon Affiliate links)

Stacking The Shelves is a feature/weekly meme created by Tynga’s Reviews in which you share the books you are adding to your shelves, both physical and virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical stores or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Now, I already have a monthly post I do featuring the books I get in the mail (and it's a lot because I have a serious Goodreads First Reads giveaway addiction), and I'm posting my monthly Read-A-Thon posts again too, which covers the books I receive through Netgalley. So my STS post will feature all the books I've been one-clicking on Amazon.

On that note, here are the books I picked up this week. All Goodreads First Reads ebook wins unless otherwise specified.

Abalone by J.G. MacLeod
Snapped by Jacci Turner
The Death of Democracy: Hitler's Rise to Power and the Downfall of the Weimar Republic by Benjamin Carter Hett - I snagged this book on sale for just $3.99 (no longer on sale) because as I've mentioned loads of times before, I am fascinated by the WWII era, and I definitely see merit in a book of this nature at this time.
Stephen Fry's Victorian Secrets by John Woolf, Nick Baker, and Stephen Fry - This was one of my two Audible Originals selections for November.
Twain's Feast by Audible Originals - This was my second Audible Originals selection for November. I was particularly drawn in by the fact that it's narrated by Nick Offerman.
Christmas at the Log Fire Cabin by Catherine Ferguson - I snagged this for just 99 cents (maybe still 99 cents) because it's that time of year and it will be quite useful for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge at some point.
Entitled by L.M. Carr - I grabbed this book as a freebie (maybe still free) because I met L.M. Carr at Book Bonanza (she wasn't a signing author but was assisting one of my must-see authors at the event) and it was free so why not.
Winter Nights: Ten Book Boxed Set by various authors - I snagged this beast for free (maybe still free) after seeing it shared somewhere on Facebook (possibly in Penny Reid's Sharks of Awesome group because she is one of the contributing authors).
Surviving Minimized by Andrea White
What's Eating Gilbert Grape by Peter Hedges - I snagged this on sale for just $1.20 (currently still on sale for $1.99, not sure why the price change) because I loved the movie and am interested in seeing how the book compares.
Reflection by Elizabeth Lim - I grabbed this on sale for just $1.99 (no longer on sale) because it's a Mulan retelling, and we all know how I love fairytale retellings.
My New Crush Gave to Me by Shani Petroff - I grabbed this book on sale for just $2.99 (maybe still on sale). It was on my radar last holiday season for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge (and I think Caroline Andrus - Blogger read and reviewed it for the challenge) so I was excited to see it on sale now.
Hockey Holidays by various authors - I snagged this anthology for just 99 cents (maybe still 99 cents) because it came highly recommend by Lenoreo at Celebrity Readers...Of course she's Canadian so hockey is in her blood (it's not in mine, I've never seen a hockey game outside of the Mighty Ducks movies), but it'll still be a great read for my 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge at some point. And all the proceeds go to charity, so at least my purchase was a bit worthwhile.
The Christmas Gift by Jordan Ford - I grabbed this book for free (no longer free) because it looks adorable and will be a good read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge.
The Trouble with Christmas by Debbie Mason - I grabbed this book on sale for just $1.99 (no longer on sale). I bet you can't guess why I'd wanna buy this book. LOL.
Prelude to Fire: Parts 1 & 2 by D.K. Holmberg - I grabbed this book for free (maybe still free) after seeing it shared on Facebook, I believe by the author, possibly even as a sponsored post.
The Signs of Sound by Atlas Ireland
The Blow Out by Bill Rogers
Dark Ocean Princess by Nina Walker - I snagged this book for just 99 cents (maybe still 99 cents) because I absolutely LOVE the cover. Also it's about a pirate.
Worst Holiday Ever by various authors - Would you believe I paid full price for this book? Because I did! Partially because full price is still only $3.99, and it'll be a great addition to my holiday book collection.
Hated by Delia Castel - I grabbed this book for free (maybe still free), because I found the cover a wee bit intriguing.
Fractal Space by Thane Keller
All Wrapped Up by Kimberley Kincaid - I snagged this on sale for just 99 cents (no longer on sale) because it will a great book to read for the 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge.
Heirs of Grace by Tim Pratt - I grabbed this book on sale for just $1.99 for a couple reasons. One, I find the cover interesting. Two, the main character's name is Bekah, and that's apparently not a very common spelling for it according to Bekah the Awesome of Platypire Reviews, so I bought it in her honor.
The Devil's Right-Hand Man: The True Story of Serial Killer Robert Charles Browne by Stephen G. Michaud and Debbie M. Price - I had to buy this book for my next book club meeting. Apparently these crimes took place rather near to where I live, so that's comforting.

And that is all the new books I picked up this past week on Amazon. I will be building a companion post full of books that I snagged from BookFunnel because I got a newsletter with a link to holiday reads available on BookFunnel right now and went a little bit overboard, and since I know I won't have the time to read all of them this year, I want to give them some press at least. So be on the lookout for that.

What new books have you added to your shelves recently? - Katie

    1. Thanks. I've been trying to use themes for the covers I select lately...And while the Christmas book is a bit out of the sunset theme, it's close-ish. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. 1) Oh good...not that I'm hockey averse, I'm just not well-versed in it.
      2) You'll probably find out in approximately 5 years, 3 months, and 22 days. (Maybe)
      3) Right.
      4) Because you know I'm weak, so weak when you throw free books in my face.

    1. What's sad is that this is a pretty average sized haul for me...You'd think I'd stop one-clicking so many books since I can only read about 2-3 a week anyway, but no, I just can't resist the one-click.

  7. Great haul! I will now have to add Reflection to my TBR because I need more Mulan retellings in my life. I actually have been listening to the Mulan soundtrack for the past hour, so this feels like fate :)
Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. Right. Seems like everyone does the usuals, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast. This is the first time I've seen a Mulan retelling. Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

  8. As always I've added a few I need to pick up to my wishlist thanks to your post today. I love seeing what you uncover each week but you are deadly for my TBR/Wishlist.

    1. I'm glad I can be of "assistance" for your TBR. LOL. Can you imagine how I feel about my TBR with my obvious lack of control where books are concerned? I'm in desperate need of some immortality so I can at least put a dent in my TBR before my demise.

Thanks for stopping by. - Katie

    1. I always go a little bit crazy on Christmas books around this time of year (pretending it's for the current years 12 Books of Christmas reading challenge, but knowing deep in my heart it may be a while before I actually read them.
